Courtesy of the European Tour Foundation we took a party of Windlesham Juniors to the British Masters at Hillside this weekend. The highlight of which was private 30 min question and answer session with one of the tours up and coming players Dimitrios Papadatos.

(Sam Dobres, Adam Baker, Ellen Yates, Evie Kircher, Alex Phelps and Joe Silcock firing questions at Dimitri)

Dimitri is new to Europe moving up from the Australasian Tour where he has had 3 wins including the New Zealand Open. He was extremely engaging and friendly with our juniors and was happy to talk freely about his practice routines and the highs and lows of pursuing a professional career as a tournament golfer. With 8 newly acquired fans following on the Sunday by close of play Dimitri had carded a 71 tying for 15th place on 9 under par for his weeks play.

All in all, we had a fabulous weekend staying in the same hotel as many of the players, having access to the Hillside clubhouse behind the 1st tee and range access on Saturday afternoon. The highlight for me was watching our junior golfers struggling to get the smile off their faces.

Selection for the trip was done through the Academy Cup Table for 2018 where we try to encourage the Juniors to use the OOM competition not only as a way of pursuing Scholarships but also as a measure of progress against their peers. Our partnership with the European Tour Foundation now enables us through events like this to reward those further down the rankings for their dedication to the sport. This week was the turn of the Division 1 players with the available top 6 getting the golden ticket to Hillside.
