The Committee needs your help
As you may already know, your Committee is currently made up of the following members:
Lee Wood (Club Captain)
Graham Robertson (Past Captain)
Lynn Lambert (Handicaps)
Gill Wood (Events)
Malcolm Wells (Competitions)
Andrew Fraser (Inter Club Matches)
Roger Smith (Seniors Captain)
Ian Greenaway (Secretariat)
Evelyn Somerville (Communications)
Rosemary Barton (Diary)
Neil Dainton (WGML)
With the appointment of a new Club Captain in October, and members of the Committee coming to the end of their terms of office, we are seeking volunteers to join the Club Committee.
The positions are essential but not all onerous. The Committee does meet once per month for approximately 2 hours each time (generally on a Friday morning), and may meet on occasions between committee meetings to discuss matters related to member golf. The Committee is in place to manage member golf, compliance with Club and Competition rules, and represent the needs of the membership as a whole in cooperation and collaboration with WGML. If you have a small amount of time that you could make available and are willing to contribute to your Club, please do come forward.
Anyone of the current Committee would be happy to give you some more background of what is involved. Otherwise, if you are interested to discuss getting involved with the Committee please let me know via the email address – email@example.com
Or by contacting me by phone on 07917271111.
Club Captain Nominee
As mentioned, our new Club Captain will be appointed later this year, subject to approval by members, at the Club AGM on Monday 30th September. I am delighted to announce that at the Committee meeting held on April 12th, committee members voted unanimously in favour of Ian Greenaway as our nominee for Club Captain in 2019 / 2020. Ian has been a member of the Club for 8 years. Over those years Ian has served on both the Club Committee, the Highwaymen’s Committee, and was Highwaymen’s Captain in 2016/17. We hope that you will support our nominee and vote in favour of his appointment at the AGM later this year.
Captain Pro Challenge
The Captain Pro Challenges are an opportunity for some banter, bragging rights, and to pit your skills against Lee Mucklow and me in 4 BBB matches in support of the Captain’s Charity. Matches are being organised through the summer and the first of these will be on April 26th when Lee and I take on Jamie Raven and Greg Ruffle. They’re talking a good game, but can they take it to the course; we shall see. If you’re up for challenging Lee and me, please contact us and we’ll organise a date to play.
The Summer season has started, I wish you great weather, great golf and success in your endeavours to achieve your golfing goals.
