The Highwaymen’s Annual Christmas Dinner was held on Friday 14th December, this is the Highwaymen’s main event of the year and as usual was a roaring success. Eighty-five Highwaymen and five guests attended the event had a great time, witnessed by the laughing faces in the photographs (in the Galleries submenu). The traditional Seat Raffle was won by Boyd Cook and Bruce Cornwell just pipped Tony Tilly to the Heads and Tails prize. Many of the HWM (and even some guests) were fined for misdemeanours they had been guilty of during the year, all of which added to the fun of the evening.

A slightly different approach to the traditional raffle of “bring a prize to win a prize” was tried this year, with tickets drawn from the “Costello Bowl”. This raffle together with the other proceeds of the evening go the Captains Charity, in all over £800 was raised.

A special presentation was made to Maurice Manning for all the magnificent input he has given over many years in the Highwaymen. Maurice has held the position of Captain, Treasurer, weekly parish notices and much more, but now he is stepping down from the committee. He will be greatly missed, but I’m sure we’ll still find something for him to do!.

The final event of the evening was, of course, the Awards Section where the Winners and runners-up for all the competitions throughout the year were invited up to collect their Trophies and Prizes and have their photographs taken to mark the occasion. The prizes were presented by Chris Dalton, the HWM Captain for 2017/18. You can see all the photographs taken during the evening in the Galleries menu (or click here).
