Following our last communication post explaining the planned winter works schedule, here is an update of what we have currently completed,

After some not so pleasant heavy rainfall that caused us problems all over the course, we are in the final stages of finishing the 5th and are due to complete this a few days behind schedule on Wednesday the 21st. This bunker will be out of play until the new turf has rooted fully and the sand will be installed prior to the 2019 golfing season.

We have started the new 8th greenside on time and work will be done on this hole over the next several weeks. The 8th will have a temporary green in play on occasions and this will be communicated through Twitter and on the club’s website.

The fairways were verti-drained a few weeks back to help with compaction, drainage and create a better profile for the grass to recover.  We thank you for your understanding and letting the team complete this task in and around golf.

Like with all winters, we have begun to put rope out on some areas to try and divert traffic away from potential pinch points and poor grass cover areas.

We kindly ask that all trolley & buggy users please avoid any bald/sparse areas where possible to help give us the best possible chance of recovery.

If able please carry your clubs.

Current Challenges

As you can see from the pictures below, autumn is a very challenging time of the year for us at Windlesham Golf Club…

We have received several comments and criticism asking if we blew any leaves today, but I’m sure as you can see from these pictures we are certainly consuming quite a lot of petrol on a daily basis to try and conquer the losing battle of leaves! Please bear with us as it is equally as frustrating for us as it is you with leaves everywhere.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and any questions please feel free to ask a member of the Team. Updates will follow in the coming weeks.

Kindest regards,

Windlesham Greenkeeping Team
