On the 9th September, the Club held its Annual Junior Captain Charity day, in aid of this year’s Club Captain’s nominated charity, PARITY. This year it had a Ryder Cup theme, with teams split into Europe v USA.
Altogether there were 13 matches played, with 52 players taking part and it was great to see the efforts made by each team, wearing Blue and Red team colours, as well as flags and face painting on display that all added to the occasion.
It was also great to see so many juniors, parents and club members taking part in what turned out to be a fun afternoon, helped by the weather staying sunny.
The competition format was split between the front and back 9 holes, involving four ball better ball, and Greensomes stablefords which made it interesting, and it was clear that there were some real serious matches played.
When all matches were completed, the scores were collated and everyone waited with anticipation to hear the final team result as well as the winners of 9-hole formats, straightest drive, nearest the pin and putting competition.
- Max and Roger Dale won the Fourball Better ball with 28 points
- Ian and Max Reid won the greensomes with 22 points
- Straightest Drive was won by Mike Phelps
- Nearest the pin on 14 was won by Sam Whitehead
- Putting competition was won by Yakov Vorobyev
And the team score was…. EUROPE 8 USA 5 – Let’s hope for more of the same next week!
There was a grid raffle for numerous prizes donated that included a Ross Fisher Tour bag, with all the squares sold, with Evie Kircher walking off with the main prize much to her surprise.
A special thanks also to Catch Telecom for their generous donation towards the charity fund.
Total money raised was £1,691.62 for the charity, which is a great achievement.
Thanks to all for taking part with such enthusiasm and for staying on for the prizegiving, where the atmosphere was amazing.
