Following our final meeting of the season last Friday, the committee tuned out to contest the Committee Cup. Enjoying one of the nicer days before the rain settled in for the weekend, there was plenty of hope and expectation amongst the 12 competitors. Who would get their hands on the coveted trophy?
Alas, with an one mid-round injury and a further withdrawal, for some, those expectations were dashed.
In the end it was Victoria who was victorious, and our Ladies’ Captain became the 22nd person to add her name to trophy with a score of 37 points. Close behind beating Tiku on count back with 35 points was Malcolm Wells. If only Malcolm hadn’t carved his ball left on the eighteenth resulting in a no score, the outcome may well have been different!
Amidst a Prosecco reception and late afternoon sunshine on the terrace, the toasting and thank you’s, Victoria accepted her prize.
Our thanks also to our guests who accompanied us playing in their own competition. Congratulations to Howard Somerville who came out on top for the second year running with a splendid 41 points, beating Ian Shipway into second place with 39, and Gill Wood third with 34.
My thanks to all those on the Committee who have contributed so much to my year and have supported me every step of the way. Good luck and continued best wishes for next year.
