The Kingswood Salver Tournament was started in 1964 and is held over two days in late September or early October. Participation is by invitation only with eight teams participating, including the hosts Kingswood. Each team is represented by three pairs, each pair consisting of one player with a 4-20 handicap and one with a 21-32 handicap. The first round is played on Wednesday and the semi-finals and finals are played back to back on Thursday. The format of the competition is foursomes match play, with handicap allowances calculated in line with CONGU guidelines.
Windlesham Golf Club won the Kingswood Salver in 2011 and we were thrilled to be invited to play again this year. We were represented at the event on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th September by the pairings of Alison Lavis & Kathryn Naylor, Jennie Corfield & Jacqui Cawley and Gill Wood & Fiona Salmon. Our ladies had a clean sweep in their first round against Reigate Hill and in their semi-final against Reigate Heath, winning all three matches in each round. The final was against Wimbledon Park, who proved to be very tough opposition and the Windlesham Ladies lost 2/1. Well done ladies and hard luck losing in the final!
