Blessed with truly fantastic weather, Sunday saw a record 108 people take to the course for the Captains’ Putt-Out and Drive-In Competiton.

Following the golf the 27 teams together with guests gathered around the 18th green to see Gill and Chris negotiate some tricky downhill sliding putts and then, the 10th tee to watch Vic and Mick take the first drives of their Captains’ year. Fortunately, no mishaps!

John Howells picked up the prize for Vic’s drive and Richard Jackson took the prize for Mick’s.

The nearest the pins were claimed by Eva Lau & Nick Blewitt on the 6th hole and Helen Hall & Chris Pritchard for the 14th. Chris made sure of his nearest the pin on the 14th by hitting a hole in one. What a way to win and what a fantastic way to bow out of his Captain’s year!

The format for the competition was 2 scores to count from 4, with a power play opportunity on certain holes. The team prizes went to:

1st Team prize, 113 points:
Kathryn Naylor, Mick Archbold, Tiku Patel & Graham Robertson

2nd Team prize, 111 points cb:
Martin Aikman, Hayden & Ian Campling & Alex Hance

3rd Team prize, 111 points cb:
Trevor Coleman, Richard Davenport, Jan Houlberg & James Igoe

The ceremonial presentation of the Captain’s Jacket and the Lady Captain’s Brooch was followed by a carvery meal with many people taking the opportunity to dine al fresco in the glorious late afternoon sun.

Sincere thanks to Gill and Chris who step down from their responsibilities, and best wishes to Vic and Mick as they start out on their Captains’ year.
