Ahead of the diarised maintenance week, which commences on Monday, please find below an outline of our intended work ahead of this planned maintenance.

As in previous years we will be carrying out our maintenance with 9-holes alternately being closed (Mon-Thurs) and this enables the team to work in the most efficient manner whilst keeping 9-holes open for our members. This ensures the team can complete the tasks effectively whilst at the same time minimising the impact and disruption to your golf. The feedback on the course has been really positive this year and we will be working hard to get the course back to its best as soon as possible after this essential maintenance. Inevitably there will be some disruption next week, however we will endeavour to keep this to an absolute minimum and your support and understanding if very much appreciated.

Our outline works will be as follows:

Greens – Deep tine aeration & micro coring followed by top dressing and light grooming. This will then be followed by an application of folia feed and Plant Growth Regulators (PGR) to aid a speedy recovery.

Aprons – Deep tine aeration & micro coring followed by top dressing and a deep scarification. This will also then be followed by an application of folia feed and PGR to aid a speedy recovery.

Tees– Deep tine aeration & micro coring followed by a light grooming and then an application of folia feed and PGR to aid a speedy recovery.

Fairways – Deep scarification on following fairways: 1st , 5th, 7th ,9th,12th and 17th.

Detail – A total herbicide will be applied as required to all paths and steps. Insecticide will also be applied to all playing surfaces.

Rough -All longer rough areas are currently being cut & collected and the remainder will be completed during the maintenance week. We are also intending to continue with our chemical applications to continue the process of promoting the finer grasses.

Drainage – We are also planning to address the drainage issue to the left of the 17th fairway and this will start with a new drain network to shed water from the low spot on the left hand side of the 2nd part of the fairway. This drain network will run into an open ditch to the left of the fairway which will then continue towards New Road. This will prevent the standing water that we experienced last year, which remained as G.U.R. for an extended period during the wet spell.

There are grander plans to improve the 17th hole and a more detailed communication will follow with our additional planned Autumn/Winter works schedule.

Thank you for your continued support.
