The golfing season is truly underway with many Interclub matches; internal knockout competitions; Medals and Stablefords, throughout the calendar over the next few months.
Three Major Club Events are on the horizon.
The Captains’ Charity Day on the 7 June. You will see details of this important day on the Website and in the Weekly Newsletter. Sign-up is through Handicapmaster or the touch screens in the clubhouse. Enter as individuals (and teams will be created) or enter as a team of four. 8.30 shotgun start. A fun day with individual and team golfing prizes, a charity raffle and auction (with proceeds to the Captains’ Charity) with a two-course buffet lunch.
Club Championships Weekend 4 and 5 July
This year, for the first time, the quest to discover the Ladies Club Champion and the Men’s Club Champion will be held over the same weekend. The weekend will be a focal point for the whole club with the intention of making the Championships weekend a truly memorable event, with additional prizes and a well-attended presentation ceremony.
The Club Championships will be two primary competitions, one for men and one for ladies with the usual silver and bronze medal categories alongside the scratch competitions to find the two Club Champions.
Whilst the competitions will be separate they will run concurrently across the weekend.
The entry fee for the competitions will be £10 per player with all monies used to provide prize money and prizes. A buffet meal will be available (at an additional cost) after the presentation ceremony.
Further details and sign-up facilities will appear on the Website shortly.
Sign-up as individuals and tee times will be allocated on the Saturday with lower handicap players teeing off first. Sunday will be the usual lower gross scores teeing off last.
This is an innovation for Windlesham Golf Club but one we are sure will ensure the Club Championships become the focal point of the golfing year for both the Men’s and Ladies’ Sections.
The Anniversary Bowl 25 July
The Club’s Individual Mixed Stableford Championship. One qualifying competition for men and ladies followed by lunch with prize and trophy awards. Further details and sign-up facilities will be posted in June.
We both hope you will support these major events and make them memorable days in 2015.
