The Junior Academy Scholarship evening last Wednesday was our 3rd year where the Juniors of Windlesham have been awarded Scholarship prizes for their achievements in the Academy Cup. This Order of Merit event gives the juniors 10 categories ranging from; Club competitions, Academy Clinics to representing Windlesham in inter-club matches, the ability to collect points throughout the calendar year.  The Scholarships are awarded to the winner of Divisions 1 & 2 Sam Storey and Sarah Wilmore with half Scholarships going to the runners-up Tom Hall and Ryan Morrison. The Academy Cup trophy itself is awarded to the golfer with the highest points total from the two divisions. Each Scholarship gives the winner, membership at Windlesham, together with a number of lessons and playing lessons for the following year. Division 3 is for our younger golfers. As this is a non-CONGU division designed as an introductory level to the Academy Cup, both Sam Woodham and Ethan Millham received trophies in what proved to be a fiercely contested division. Our last award within the Academy Cup went to Adam Cowley who improved his points tally the most from 2013 to 2014.

Within the Academy programme we also award Scholarships to Junior girls who we have worked with over the past year that have shown ability and application to the game. This Scholarship is designed as an introduction for the girls to membership. Katherine, Emma and Estelle will go onto join Sarah, Georgia and Vickie. Our hope is that increased numbers will lead to the girls enjoying their membership sufficiently to stay on and build a strong Junior Girls Section at Windlesham

Peter Lumley, Managing Director awarded the Prizes after the Academy teams review and what’s new for 2014 presentation. The winners, parents and guests all went on to enjoy each others company with drinks and canapé to round off what was an exceptional evening
