Over recent weeks The Club’s Festive Season has been in full swing and I trust you have found one or two events that have suited your taste.
I would like to thank all the organisers of the events that have run so far, though I know there are still a few more to come.
It is always dangerous to single out a few for a special mention, but I will anyway.
Billy Field for Billy and the Bandits
Rod Ridgby for the Quiz Night
Stephane, Rosie and Richard Tear for the Wine Bluff Night
Rod Parsons for the two Carol Nights
Gerald Bullock, Maurice Manning and Tony Green for The Highwaymen’s Christmas Dinner
Pat Dowsett, Hilary Ashby and Sue Moynihan for the Turkey Trot
The Turkey Trot was blessed with sunny winter weather and winning team after a “Stewards’ Enquiry” was Mark Clements, Terry Booth, Peter Clark and Jane Carter.
The Christie Cup is the trophy that is presented to the winners of The Surrey under 18 Club Team Knockout. At the Trot Lunch, those present gave a standing ovation to Sarah Wilmore, Ryan Morrison and Christian Mucklow when they were presented with this cup as the 2013 County Champions. A fantastic achievement by all of the juniors who represented the club throughout the summer months in this competition.
At this same lunch, Lee Mucklow auctioned off the last of The Club’s Reserved Parking Spaces to help raise funds for The Junior Academy. My thanks go especially to John Burton for his very generous final bid.
I hope you all enjoy your golf over the festive season and I wish you all a very happy Christmas. May I also on your behalf wish the same happy Christmas to all the Staff. Through their hard work they make Windlesham Golf Club such a great place to play, eat and have fun.
