Lady Captain’s Update

Alison Lavis Drive in

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your lovely cards and emails saying you enjoyed Ladies
Captain’s Day. I had a great deal of fun and pleasure planning the day and am very pleased that you
all enjoyed it. I would also like to thank all the people who helped to make the day so special.
Now we still have some summer golf to enjoy so please keep signing up for the matches, and the fun
competitions (on the web) or contact Karen Rankin for the event on Sunday 8th September. Also
look out for the notices for the Autumn Meeting and for the Ladies Open which is now open to
members and members’ guests.
The sign up notices for the Winter Knock Outs will be in the locker room for everyone to sign up as
we hope the early rounds will be completed in enough time to alleviate the limited hours we have
on the golf course in the short winter days.
Because we are opening the Open on the 18th September to members and guests the away day at
Ashfield Manor on the 16th September has been postponed to March 2014.
Remember that from now the qualifying competitions (medals and stablefords) are paid and signedup
for in the pro shop. Jo is now coming to the Ladies Committee meetings which will improve
communications between the ladies committee and WGMC. I would like to thank Jo for her
contribution to our section since she arrived and wish her luck in her future role in the proshop.
I hope you all know that Jennie Corfield has stepped into the role of Secretary as Helen Macgowan
has sadly resigned and we all wish her the best of luck in this role.
The notices for the Ladies AGM will be posted in the locker room for everyone to read it the next
week. Please follow the instructions for any proposals you wish to put forward. If you have any
queries please contact Jennie or myself.
Lastly congratulations to Angela Kokaram who won the ladies section of the Anniversary Trophy on
Saturday. Joan Bird and Evelyn Somerville were close on her heels in 2nd and 3rd place. Angela will
shortly be leaving us for anew life in Houston, Texas with Chris and I am sure you would like to join
me in wishing her the best of luck in this new venture. She will be a great loss to WGC.
