The Highwaymen play friendly matches against 13 other local clubs each year. Format is two players (from each club) in a four ball, better ball match play, with each team consisting of six pairs.

Two ‘away’ inter-club matches have been played to date.  At Test Valley we won 3 1/2 – 2 1/2. The match at Pyrford was halved, with many balls being put in the numerous water hazards, with shots that were ‘almost’ good ones. Gerald Bullock and Peter Hurwood had won their game, but we were 1:3 down after the first 4 games. Excellent team work by Mike Tyers/Paul Buchanan and Roy Benfield/Graham Woods won the last two games thereby securing the ‘half’. This is the best result at Pyrford in recent years.

The first ‘home’ match, against Milford last week, resulted in a 4 1/2 – 1 1/2 win for Windlesham, where local knowledge was to our advantage.

Two further matches, with Sutton Green and Mill Ride are sceduled for later in the month.
