19 teams battled it out on the Quinta do Lago South Course for the second Race to Portugal event hosted by Cyril Griffiths on behalf of Monte da Quinta Resort.

The resort and location were stunning with the normaly beautiful  Algarve weather, disappearing on the second day.

Peter and John poised for day two.

Windlesham were pipped to second place after the rain-soaked final round was completed, finishing only 2 points behind the Drift Golf Club on 106  while Westport Golf Club from Ireland stormed to victory in the race to Portugal Event on 120 points.

Peter Hurwoood second in the individual overnight made a fine start on the South Course, with a birdie at the first to put himself and Windlesham into an early lead. But as the weather deteriorated sadly so did Peter’s game, with the weather and 4 rounds of golf in 4 days taking its toll, he finally finished in 14th position.

John Howells, Peter’s partner made a steady start on Day 1 with 30 points but struggled on the front 9, with the weather at its worst John turned in an impressive back nine of 20 points lifting him into 3rd place in the individual and clinching 3rd place for Windlesham in the team event
