This Tournament originated in 1964 and is held annually in late September/early October.  Eight teams participate – Kingswood and seven other Surrey clubs invited by Kingswood on a rotational basis.  The Tournament is unique in Surrey as it is the only two day competition organised by a single club inviting participation from other clubs throughout the County.

Each team is represented by three pairs, each pair consisting of one player from handicap group 4-20 and group 21-32.  The first round is played on Wednesday and the semi-finals and finals are played on Thursday.

Windlesham Golf Club was invited to play in this competition for the first time this year.  We were represented by Angela Kokoram, Pam Clark and Alison Lavis for the lower handicap group and by, Wendy Marshall, Jean Ebbon and Irene Mullan for the higher group.  Our pairings for the matches were chosen in that order.

On the first day we played Cuddington and Pam/Jean and Alison/ Irene both won their matches giving us a 2 out of 3 win.  We therefore moved to play in the next round on Thursday morning against Limpsfield Chart.  Angela/Wendy and Pam/Jean both won that round giving us another 2 out of 3 win and so we went on to play the final against Kingswood in the afternoon.

The weather was just fabulous and, as you might expect,  Angela managed to almost stun the opposition with some of her long and accurate shots.  Angela/Wendy and Alison/Irene both won their matches in the final giving Windlesham  a really fantastic win for the team and Windlesham Golf Club.

As winners we keep the salver for a year and are automatically invited back next year.
