WINDLESHAM JUNIORS

Windlesham Golf Club has an active and vibrant Junior section and we have recently been awarded the Golf Mark in recognition of our junior development programme.

We aim to provide a safe, friendly environment where juniors can enjoy and improve their golf. The Club provides excellent course access and playing rights for junior members with a recognised child protection policy in place. Combined with a generous subscription structure this is one of the best junior packages available. Whether you want to play with your friends and family, have access to free tuition, get a Club or CONGU handicap, or become involved in competitions, the organising team will be pleased to help where they can.

In addition to the Windlesham Junior Section Fixture List 2012, there are plenty of other opportunities for all Juniors to play golf at Windlesham GC.

Every Saturday afternoon from Saturday 7th April until Saturday 29th September 2012 three tee times will be booked for younger and new Junior members to join me in nine holes of golf. This will assist them to integrate into the social aspects of the Junior Section, helping them to make friends and feel confident. In addition to learning about the rules of golf, etiquette and course management they will be having fun. This is a tried and tested method of encouraging new members to join in.

Meet in the bar area at 2:15pm every Saturday with the first tee booked at 3:00pm.

Continuing from last year's trial, the Saturday Junior Stableford Roll-up qualifying competition will be a permanent feature for the Junior Section through the summer months.(April to September) This is aimed at the experienced player with a CONGU handicap and is an ideal opportunity to keep their handicap up to date. Same format as last year; book a tee time after 12:00pm, sign in on the computer, play 18 holes then enter your score on the computer and hand your score card into the office.

Every month Men's and Ladies Div 1 & 2 qualifying Stableford & Medal matches are played. Juniors with a CONGU handicap are encouraged to play. The only restriction is one Junior per group. If two Juniors have booked in on the same time slot, the second named Junior will be rescheduled. Men's and Ladies competitions are also open to Junior members with the relevant handicap. A list of all competitions and entry status is published on the Club website. Follow the link 'Members Pages' and 'Men's Competitions.

The Junior Academy provides a constructive training regime over the course of the golfing year culminating in an award for the best overall players in their golfing ability, attitude, and competition results. Saturday and Sunday Academy dates run throughout the summer in addition to Junior Skills Days run during the school holidays. See Lee Mucklow for more details.

Dates and times published in the Windlesham Golf Club Diary 2012 are subject to change. The most up to date list of activities is posted on the Junior notice boards in the men's and ladies changing rooms. These will give a current year, three month and three event lists of events, stating meeting times, where to meet, dress, change of clothing required, cost and pick up time.
