Windlesham Golf Management Limited
Windlesham Golf Management Limited manages the Windlesham facilities on behalf of the Club and its members. It is a limited company with a board of directors. It employs a team of golf specialists who aim to meet all your requirements, both on the golf course and in the Clubhouse.

Windlesham Golf Club
Windlesham Golf Club has a Club Committee whose members have three-year terms of office, and are elected by the members at each year’s Annual General Meeting. The AGMs are held at the end of September and all five and seven-day members are eligible to attend and vote. Men’s, Ladies’ and Mixed golf is managed by the Club Committee. The section known as the Highwaymen, created to specifically represent the male members aged 55 years and over, have their own sub-committee with members elected to represent the sections and arrange matches and competitions.
Our Club Captain is appointed each year by the membership at the AGM and he/she meets each month with the management team to ensure the smooth running of the Club and discuss future plans. The aim at all times is to maintain good communications between the management and the Club.
The current Club Captain’s name and photograph are displayed on the Captain’s board in the entrance to the Clubhouse.
Each year, the Club Captain chooses a local charity that members are encouraged to support through events and promotions arranged during the year. Your support will be much appreciated by the Club Captain and the charity concerned. Anything you can do to help will be most welcome.
Our Ladies’ Section aims to promote both social and competitive golf activities with a view to developing a friendly and pleasant atmosphere in which members can meet and play a sociable round of golf.
As part of their work, the ladies make every effort to both welcome and integrate new members.
The Club Committee together with the Ladies’ Section arrange and run a variety of different golfing formats during the year, all of which are designed to give members opportunities to play with as wide a range of competitors as possible.
Members of our senior section – which is open to all male Club members aged 55 and over – are known as The Highwaymen.
The Highwaymen aim to promote both social and competitive golf activities with a view to developing a friendly and pleasant environment in which members can meet and play a round of golf. Every effort is made to welcome and integrate new members to The Highwaymen.
The Highwaymen meet every Thursday morning and, subject to Winter daylight limitations, will normally play from 07:30 onwards. Registration for each day’s play is on a Roll-Up basis, which usually closes 45 minutes after the start of normal play.
Member’s eligible to play In Highwaymen’s events but are unable to attend during this roll up period may also enter the events on a roll up basis outside of the Highwaymen’s allotted tee times. This provides the added opportunity to members to play competition golf and have handicaps measured, however the allocation of prizes will only be available for Highwaymen playing within the Thursday morning pre-booked tee allocation.
The Highwaymen’s Committee arranges and runs a variety of different golfing formats during the year, which ensure everyone gets an opportunity to play with as wide a range of members as possible.
The Highwaymen’s Annual General Meeting is held in early November, when new Committee members are elected.
The aim of our Juniors’ Section is to provide a safe, friendly environment where young people can enjoy and improve their golf.
We have developed processes and procedures that have secured our accreditation to GolfMark, a kitemark that ensures the protection of young people, including measures to prevent discrimination of any kind. We also have a Code of Conduct for Juniors, which you’ll find in the appendices of this Guide.
We provide excellent course access and playing rights. With its generous subscription structure, we believe ours is one of the best young person’s packages available anywhere.
Whether you want to play with your friends and family, have access to subsidised tuition, get a handicap or become involved in competitions, we will be pleased to help wherever we can.
Junior Academy Cup and Scholarship Programme
As part of our commitment to junior golf development we also operate an academy cup and junior scholarship with points allocated throughout the year for attendance, improvement, etiquette, results etc. Full details of the Scholarship programme are available on request.
The top two juniors at the end of the Academy Cup each year qualify for a full scholarship for the following year. The scholarship includes their membership fees, mentoring and free coaching throughout the year.
We also operate a girl’s scholarship programme as part of our commitment to develop an active girls section within Windlesham Golf Club.
Our Professional Shop
All our shop’s staff members are PGA Professionals and are here to help with your golfing requirements. It is their job to manage all Roll-Up bookings and registrations when players arrive and before they tee off. The shop is very well equipped for all your golfing needs and our team are on-hand to provide the right advice and service to further develop your golf.
The Golf Academy
With tailored programmes designed to suit all levels of ability, our Academy offers golfers many opportunities to hone their skills. The Academy’s facilities, which are located to the left of the car park as you are looking at the Clubhouse, are staffed by first-class PGA-qualified professionals who can provide the ideal environment in which you can learn, practice and play.

Our Roll-Up system makes it possible for members who arrive within the times shown on the previous page, and who report their intention to play to the Pro Shop, to be teamed up with other available members and be allocated the next vacant tee time. We have developed this system to encourage friendly and informal participation amongst all Club members.
Our telephone booking system offers members and guests, as well as visiting players from other clubs, tee time bookings on a more formal basis. As well as making it possible for you to plan your leisure time more easily, this also helps us manage the course more efficiently.
We also offer a facility for members, their guests or visitors to book their tee times online. This allows you to arrange your golf in your own time, without the need to call the Club. As a member, you will have priority booking at all times and will be able to reserve tee times up to 14 days in advance. Visitors can use the system to make bookings 10 days in advance.
You will be provided with your own User Name and Password when you join, or you may register directly online.
The Club manages members’ handicaps through the Handicap Master section of the web site. Touch screens are located in the men’s changing room, the ladies’ changing room, and Pro Shop to record competition results for all registered players. Golf Operations is responsible for ensuring that handicaps are correctly administered and controlled.

If you are travelling and need an up-to-date handicap certificate, please use the Request A Handicap Certificate facility on the website and copies will be made available in the main office.
Implementation of Club Handicaps
The Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) have produced recommendations for the introduction of “club handicaps”.
WGML together with the Club Committee of Windlesham Golf Club believe that CONGU’s recommendations, whilst not compulsory, will improve inclusiveness and accessibility to golf, especially for players who are either new to the game or players who are unable to play to a maximum CONGU handicap. WGML and the main committee of Windlesham Golf Club therefore support the recommendations.
Our handicapping software also offers an opportunity to view our various competition tee times, results and handicap adjustments online.
This secure site – for which you will need to register – can be accessed via a link on the web site called “member login”. Please contact Golf Operations for more information and assistance.
Competitions Entry Procedure
In order to offer a balanced calendar of golfing events, the Club organises numerous competitions, details of which can be found in the online Club diary, and on the Club notice boards in the Clubhouse changing rooms.

Useful Club Information
As a seasonal business, our opening times vary during the year. Opening times will be advised via email by Golf Operations. As a general rule, we do not open before 07:00 in Summer (after sunrise in Winter) and we close one hour after sunset.
*The golf shop will be closed to pay for any guest practice balls.
Please note that we are closed on Christmas Day. On Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, the office hours may vary. All hours may be subject to change due to adverse weather conditions.
Arrival and Registration
When you arrive as a player you will be asked to register at the Golf Pro Shop for your tee time.
Your tee time will be confirmed and noted on the system. If you are playing with a guest, you will be asked for any balance of payment and issued with a valid green fee ticket. The tee times are set at eight-minute intervals.
If you have a pre-booked tee time we ask that you arrive at least 20 minutes early to ensure your prompt departure from the first tee. This will be appreciated by your fellow golfers.
We encourage everyone to warm up on the golf range with a bucket of balls. Guests can purchase range vouchers from the Pro Shop.
Please also ensure that your guests arrive with plenty of time to spare. If, for any reason, you or your guests are delayed, we will do our best to offer you a suitable alternative tee time, although we cannot guarantee this will be possible.
Members are encouraged to bring guests to the Club and may book up to 14 days in advance either online or by phoning the Pro Shop. Some guest restrictions apply at weekends.
We have a limited number of buggies and trolleys, which are available for hire. Please book early to avoid disappointment. The Club also provides a limited number of pencil golf bags for use during very wet periods, when trolleys may be restricted. Please ask in the Pro Shop if you require one.
If you have booked a guest tee slot and the guest withdraws, please call and cancel the booking so that other members and guests can take up the cancelled tee time.
Please note that we are unable to provide a refund or credits if your guests arrive late for tee times. We will endeavour, where possible, to provide alternative tee times on the same day.
Visiting golfers are most welcome at Windlesham, but may only play at times other than members’ tee times. Members reserved tee times are currently Monday-Thursday up to 11:00, Fridays up to 9:30 and from 15:00 – 18:00 and up to 12:00 at weekends. These times are constantly reviewed in conjunction with the Committee and may change from time to time. Such changes will be publicised in the Club newsletter and on the Club website.
The non-members’ tee time pricing structure is also displayed on the Club website, and in the Pro Shop. This pricing structure, which is amended from time to time, has been designed for the protection of our subscription-paying members.
The Windlesham Golf Shop is believed to be one of the best-stocked specialists golf shops in the south of England.
Our PGA & Golf Operations Professionals are always available to discuss your golfing needs. Their extensive training in equipment and technology makes it possible for them to custom-fit a range of items for you.
The Shop is prepared to part-exchange equipment and will always make sure you get great-value clubs at special members’ rates.
All golf related enquires should be directed to the Golf Operations Team who are at your service in the Pro Shop.
The Pro Shop has ten buggies available for hire. To book a buggy, and to avoid disappointment at tee time, we recommend you make an advance reservation by telephoning the Pro Shop on 01276 451 122.
The standard rates are £25.00 for one round or £40.00 for the day, with payment due when you arrive at the Club and register your tee time. Club members are entitled to a 20% discount on the advertised rate for you and your guests.
Trolleys are available for hire at £4.00 each. Payment is made on arrival when you register for your tee time.
Practice Facilities/Driving Range
The Club’s practice facilities include a golf range with grass and matted teeing areas, undercover teaching bays, a chipping area, a practice putting green and on Course lessons.
Practice balls are free for club members and can be obtained using your swipe card. Guests purchasing range balls will be given a PIN number to enter into the Range ball dispenser at the range.
The Golf Academy
The Golf Academy offers golfers of all abilities opportunities to hone their skills, with tailored lesson packages designed to suit everyone.
The courses include On Course instruction and the latest V1 coaching video systems, which allow detailed comparisons with the top professionals’ swings before and after instruction. Your swing can be stored for future assessment, and we can make up a DVD of your lesson and a swing sequence
print-out, all of which will help with your learning process.
Our professionals have agreed a special rate for Club members, which you can take advantage of simply by mentioning that you are a member. The current price list can be found in the Golf Academy section of the Club website.

Golf and Social Scene
The Club holds a number of golf and social events each year, all of which are designed to foster good relationships between members and provide opportunities for non-members and their guests to enjoy the full range of facilities of Windlesham Golf Club.
Over the years some of our most successful golf events have included the Pro-Am, Mixed Invitation Open Days, our Men’s Invitation Open Days, our Men’s Captain’s Charity Days, our Ladies’ Invitation Open Days, our Ladies’ Captain’s Charity Open Days and our Friday afternoon Roll-Ups. We encourage all members to participate in these events and hope you will bring your family and guests with you. Information about golf events are posted on the Club website, in the newsletter and in the Clubhouse changing rooms.
Our extensive social calendar is also designed to be as inclusive as possible, with the aim of bringing Club members together. These events can be booked via your membership loyalty card. They are promoted via notice boards, our website and weekly email newsletters and spread throughout the year.
As examples, we have staged a special New Years Eve event, a Spring function to coincide with Valentine’s Day and the start of the season, a Summer BBQ, a Turkey Trot, an evening of carols and Captain’s Drive-In and Captain’s Charity Day buffets.
Clubhouse and Restaurant
Our Clubhouse and restaurant is open daily with seasonal menus prepared by our experienced Chefs.
We also offer a very relaxed Sunday lunch throughout the year, which offers a wonderful opportunity for a game of golf followed by a family lunch. This is a very popular service, so we recommend booking online or by telephone on 01276 452 220.
The Club presents a perfect venue for members’ celebrations. Our facilities cater for intimate gatherings, group lunches, private fine dining and large-scale exclusive functions, with each event tailored to your individual requirements and all available at special rates for members.
Please contact any member of our team to discuss anything from a small private lunch party to exclusive evening functions such as cocktail parties for 60 to 120 or fine dining for up to 16 guests in our boardroom.
Each year, the Club Captains choose a local charity that members are encouraged to support through events and promotions arranged during the year. Your support will be much appreciated by both the Captains and the charities concerned. Anything you can do to help will be most welcome.
The Club’s Birdie Book helps raise money for the Captain’s Charity whenever a member gets a “Gross” Birdie on the course.
Full details of the scheme are available in the Birdie Book, which is kept in the Clubhouse. Members should enter their name in the Book whenever they achieve a “Gross” Birdie. Each birdie recorded costs £1 and will be automatically deducted from your loyalty card.
Each quarter, the Committee holds a draw, which presents 50% of the funds raised as prizes. To improve your chances of winning the birdie draws you may wish to contact the Golf Academy staff!
We are always happy to arrange special Golfing Days for members and their business associates, or as special celebrations for events such as birthdays and anniversaries. Such days are a wonderful way of entertaining your family, friends and colleagues in a relaxed, social atmosphere.
As a member, you will qualify for a discount on the published price of events like these, and you and other members will not be charged for playing golf.
We can arrange bookings from Monday to Thursday after 11:00 on the first tee and on Friday after 9:30 during the period of British Summer Time. A full monthly calendar of bookings will be displayed on the Club website.
If you enjoy playing on a Friday afternoon and meeting other members and a little light competition during the Summer months, we offer a weekly nine-hole Roll-Up competition. All you need do is to register at the Clubhouse and you will be teamed with fellow members for a game.
Food is available throughout the evening, which makes the event a great way to relax after a hard week. You’ll be able to enjoy a drink on the terrace or in the Clubhouse with good food, fine wine and excellent company to follow.
We are proud of our GolfMark accreditation. This award, which is supported by Sport England and England Golf, recognises our adherence to a set of pre-defined processes and procedures particularly aimed at ensuring consistent standards for Juniors, as described in our Juniors’ Section.
The Golf Network
As a member of Windlesham Golf Club, you automatically qualify for membership of The Golf Network. This allows you to play – without charge – at any of the participating courses, up to ten times a year each Monday to Friday.
Please request a Golf Network ID card, with a passport-size photograph, prior to visiting any of these clubs.
Once you have chosen a course you would like to play on, please contact the selected club to check its availability. You will be asked to produce your ID card when you sign in for a tee time. Many of the clubs in the network allow you to take a guest, who will be able to play at the members’ green fee rate.

Golf Association Membership
As a member of Windlesham Golf Club, you also have automatic membership of a number of other golf organisations.
The majority of the funding for the England Golf comes from affiliation fees paid by golfers. As a member of Windlesham Golf Club, you will have automatic membership of England Golf, with us paying your subscription on your behalf, which helps fund England Golf’s core activities.
As the governing body of amateur golf, England Golf maintains a uniform system of handicapping and administers and applies the rules approved by the Council of National Golf Unions.
England Golf is one of the largest sports governing bodies in England and looks after the interests of over 1,900 golf clubs and 680,000 club members. It is a non-profit organisation run for the benefit of the game and its players.
England Golf organises all the major men’s English Amateur championships, including the English Amateur, the English Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship (The Brabazon Trophy), and other international matches hosted by England.
Affiliation to England Golf gives you an opportunity to obtain an internationally recognised golf handicap, which enables you to enter club, county, national and even international events. For details of how to obtain a handicap, please visit the Windlesham Golf office.
Surrey Golf Unions County Card Membership
We have a special arrangement that allows all Windlesham Golf Club members to be Individual Members of the Surrey County Card Scheme. We are the only club in the county that offers this to all adult members as part of their membership package. There are currently two associations, one for men (The Surrey County Golf Union, which can be found here) and one for ladies (The Surrey Ladies’ County Golf Association, which can be found here).
The County Card grants the holder reduced green fees, not only at all participating clubs in Surrey, but also around the home counties. At the last count, some 550 clubs were available for men and 91 affiliated clubs offered facilities for ladies.
As a Windlesham member, you will be given an Individual Membership Scheme County Card bearing your name, Windlesham’s name and The Surrey County logo watermark.

Surrey Ladies’ County Golf Association
Windlesham Golf Club is also affiliated to Surrey Ladies’ County Golf Association, which allows our members to play in various county competitions as well as representing the Club in events such as The Druce Trophy, The Hicks Trophy and The Centenary Cup.
It has been proposed that all our playing ladies will be deemed to have County membership, as the County is planning to levy a membership fee on each affiliated club for each lady member. Members should also be able to benefit from the County Card system, which allows them to play at participating courses once a year at a reduced green fee. A number of County events, including the County Spring and Autumn Meetings, may also be open to our Club members.
As a Windlesham member, you will be given an Individual Membership Scheme County Card bearing your name, Windlesham’s name and The Surrey County logo watermark.

When you become a member you will automatically receive a members’ levy swipe card that can be used for purchases at the bar and in the restaurant, where you will also receive a further 10% discount on all purchases made.
This card can also be used for competition entry, registration and score input via the touch screens.
Your levy card can be topped up at the bar, where you can pay by cash, credit card or cheque to ensure you can continue enjoying the members’ 10% discount on food and drinks.
We accept payment in cash, by credit cards, cheques and direct debit. If you would like to pay by internet banking, we have an account for members’ use.
All subscriptions, the cost of functions/golf days and the like, should be paid to Windlesham Golf Management Ltd, Coutts & Co, Sort Code 18-00-02, Account Number 51540651. Please quote your invoice number or membership number and/or name.
We have a small number of lockers available to let for an annual fee of £50.00. If you would like to hire one, please contact the office.
We are always pleased to recognise the skills of members who achieve a Hole-in-One. Everyone who accomplishes this rare feat, whether in competition or casual play, will be awarded a certificate, subject to completion of a certified Verification Record Form.
You will find a Hole-in-One Verification Record Form on the Club website. Members who achieve a Hole-in-One in an official Club competition will also be entitled to free drinks up to the value of £75.00, courtesy of our group insurance policy. For those who wish to offer the player a celebratory glass of port, we have special prices available per bottle, including the use of our port decanter.
As a member of Windlesham Golf Club, you will be covered whilst playing golf at any recognised golf club in the United Kingdom, and whilst playing golf aboard, for up to 120 days per year.
The cover, which is underwritten at Lloyd’s of London, includes:-
Personal Liability in the event that you become legally liable for injury to a third party and Property Damage up to a limit of £5,000,000 for any one accident, and Non-Negligence cover in respect of Accidental Damage to third party property irrespective of legal liability up to £10,000.
Personal Accident Cover, until the age of 85, up to £15,000 (Juniors £4,000) in respect of Death/Loss of Limb(s) or Eye(s)/Permanent Total Disablement.
Subscription Reimbursement up to £1,000 if, as a result of an accident whilst playing golf, you are unable to play golf for more than 60 days.
Hole-in-One cover, if this is achieved in an official Club competition (ie match, stroke play, medal or stableford) for reimbursement of the bar bill incurred on the day of the achievement in respect of the customary round of drinks, up to a limit of £75.00.
The terms of the policy require us to notify insurers within 14 days of any incident you believe may give rise to a claim. We ask, therefore, that you notify the office as soon as possible if you are concerned about any potential claim as failure to do so may invalidate it. If you would like a copy of the full terms and conditions of the cover, you can obtain a copy from our main office.
This cover has been arranged through GolfGuard Ltd, who specialise in golfing insurance. If you require any additions to the covers we have arranged, such as a specialist year-round theft cover for your golf equipment, we suggest you contact them direct. We have arranged a 25% discount off the normal insurance price for members of Windlesham Golf Club. The full details of the current policy can be found on our website.

In order to protect the golf course during the Winter months, we sometimes enforce preferred lies. Preferred lies enable you to lift, clean and place your ball on any closely mown area around the course without penalty. You will find full local rules on the website and in the starters hut by the 1st tee.
The course is inspected by the Course Manager at first light each day. He will be in touch with members via Twitter and the Windlesham Golf Club website, if conditions dictate that the course should be closed or restrictions introduced. This information is posted as soon as possible after the decision is made. Our course closure policy can be viewed by clicking here.
No Trolleys or Buggies
While we make every effort to allow trolleys and buggies to be used at all times, in periods of extreme weather it is in the best interest of all members that trolleys and buggies are not used, to prevent damage to the course. Our buggy ‘safe route’ over the first 6 holes can be viewed by clicking here.
When the Restricted Trolleys sign is displayed it means that power trolleys are banned and only pull trolleys used for medical reasons will be permitted. If the conditions are poor but you are able to carry your bag, we ask that you do so to help prevent damage to the course. When trolleys are allowed, please keep your trolley on the paths where possible and outside areas marked with white lines. When walking, try to avoid damaged areas by skirting pinch points and following any Greenkeepers signage.

Chemicals are applied to the course throughout the year, to maintain the quality of the grass and its continuing good health. All the products used meet strict environmental and health and safety standards and our staff have been appropriately trained and are qualified to handle them. Nevertheless, we recommend you take the normal precaution of washing your hands in the Clubhouse after each round.
Please remember that the opportunities for frost can vary considerably around the course. You may think that, because the 18th green is clear of frost, this is the case around the whole course, but it is not always so. The Greenkeepers keep a close eye on the situation throughout the morning and will endeavour to open the main greens as soon as they are playable.
The final ruling on the course condition rests with the Management.
Adverse Weather Conditions
Windlesham Golf Management Limited reserves the right to close the course if it considers conditions are unsafe for play.
Whilst we will endeavour to inform golfers of course closure, either by signage and/or by audible means, it is every player’s responsibility to decide whether or not it is safe to play.
If the course has to be closed due to adverse weather conditions, or for reasons of Health and Safety, and you have a guest booked in, they will be offered the opportunity to book an alternative date. If an alternative cannot be found, a full credit will be made for any monies paid.
Only the management can deem the course closed for all play.
Poor Visibility and Lightning
Before Commencing Play
You must not commence play without permission from Golf Operations.
If for any reason you feel you are in danger, or could cause injury to others, you must cease play, mark your ball and return to the Clubhouse until it is safe to resume play.
If the management considers there is a risk of lightning, it will sound a 30-second continuous blast of the klaxon, followed by a break of 10 seconds and another 30-second blast. If you hear this warning, you must cease play and return to the Clubhouse.
If you and your playing partner consider there is a risk of lightning, you should cease play, mark your balls and return to the Clubhouse until it is safe to resume play.
Do not under any circumstances put your umbrella up if the klaxon has been has been sounded.
In the case of competitions, play will be resumed by two short blasts of the klaxon repeated three times, with a short pause in between, approximately 30 minutes after the last crack of thunder.
Bag Tags/Guests/Visitors’ Bag Tags
All members are provided with a season’s Windlesham Golf Club bag tag, which is collected either on joining or on payment of your renewal fee. Please display your bag tag in a clearly visible place, to avoid any embarrassment should fellow members or the management ask to see it.
Guests and visitors playing at Windlesham are given a numbered paper tag confirming that their visitor fee has been paid. This paper tag must be fixed to their golf bag so that the marshal can see it.

While the use of WiFi in a public place carries an element of risk we suggest you ensure you have a personal firewall installed and switched on, that your anti-virus software is installed, up to date and working, and that you do not send private and confidential emails whilst using our facility.

You should be aware we have a number of CCTV security installations at the Club and around the grounds, including at the 1st and 10th tees, so that we can monitor the premises and manage tee time registration.
Windlesham Golf Management is unable to accept responsibility for any property left in the changing rooms. At the end of each day, all property left in the changing rooms will be transferred to the lost property lockers and stored unsecured for a period of up to four weeks. After this period, suitable items will be deposited in the local clothing bank and all other items will be disposed of. This includes golf shoes left in the shoe storage areas.
Slow Play Principles
We encourage prompt play and the maintenance of a reasonable tempo and our course marshals have the authority to ask you to speed up play if required. We ask you to respect the marshals’ role and give them your full co-operation.
The decision of the course marshal in relation to the flow of play on the course is binding on all golfers. In extreme/persistent cases the marshal may ask you to leave the course. This is done only as a last resort, to ensure other golfers do not suffer from the actions of a few.
Please remember, your place on the golf course is immediately behind the group in front, not immediately ahead of the group behind.
We ask that approved golf shoes are worn at all times on the course, with soft spikes preferred. Golf shoes may not to be worn in the dining areas or main Clubhouse.
Golfers normally adhere to a certain dress code, which we trust you will comply with.
Smart casual wear is preferred at Windlesham Golf Club. For your guidance, all shirts should have a collar. V-neck, polo-neck, crew-neck or turtle-neck jumpers or plain collared sweatshirts are acceptable. Football-style shirts and casual shorts – for example, football shorts – tracksuits and jogging pants are discouraged.
Members are asked to refrain from approaching other golfers on this subject and should, instead, refer the matter to the Duty Manager. The final decision on suitable attire will be made by the Management.
We encourage members to wear golf hats on the golf course during sunny periods, but respectfully ask that you remove your hat in the Clubhouse bar.
We encourage members to take their mobile phones with them on the course so that, in the event of an emergency, they will be able to contact the Pro Shop for assistance.

Please consider fellow golfers when using your mobile phone on the course and in the Clubhouse.
We suggest you set your ring tone to silent or vibrate so as not to cause any disturbance. If you need to take a call, please ensure you do so with consideration for fellow golfers and members as appropriate.
In line with Government legislation, smoking/e-cigarettes/vape pens are only allowed outside the Clubhouse where we provide ashtrays and bins to ensure the grounds are kept clean and tidy. Your assistance in this matter is much appreciated.
We want to enjoy good relationships with our neighbours and one way to ensure this is not to cross onto their property to find your ball if it is out of play.
As you may be aware, under the rules of golf, you are not permitted to leave the golf course during your round.
A number of public footpaths run through our course, which give walkers the right of way. There is no public right to cycle on a public footpath. Dogs do not have to be on leads, but they must be kept under close control.
Golf course paths have been developed for your convenience and the ongoing protection of the course. We respectfully request that you use these wherever possible.
Health and Safety Guidance
Health and safety form an integral part of the Windlesham Golf Management Limited business strategy. We are committed to ensuring that the health, safety and welfare of all employees, members and third parties engaged in the working operation of the business is maintained at all times.
The company wholly accepts the aims and provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974 and respective Regulations. It is the company’s aim to operate the business with health and safety as a top priority together with other business aspirations. As such, the company sets annual objectives for measuring the health and safety performance of the business. This allows for ongoing performance reviews by the company Health and Safety Committee.
It is also the intention of all management and staff to apply all current health and safety legislation through the implementation of the company health and safety policy. This policy has been produced from a risk assessment of the company’s activities, which are detailed in the written risk assessments and arrangements located within the policy document. The company also recognises that its management and employees have an individual responsibility for ensuring strict adherence to all company health and safety arrangements. All employees are obliged to co-operate with the company in maintaining good standards of health and safety.
This includes their statutory responsibility in:–
- carrying out their duties in a safe manner with due regard to the health, safety and welfare of themselves, their colleagues and third parties;
- not interfering with any items, equipment or environment, which may affect the health, safety or welfare of them, their colleagues and third parties.
- reporting any defects or hazards without delay to their line manager.
Guests and visitors are advised to read the notice boards for all Health and Safety Guidance and Local Rules at the Club.
Membership Year and Notice Period
The Club’s membership year runs from July 1 to June 30. The company, Windlesham Golf Management Limited, writes to all members a month in advance, offering renewal terms for the following year. Under the terms of club membership, you are required to give three months’ notice of resignation. We ask that you let the company know as soon as possible if you do not intend to renew your membership.
Keeping in Touch
We aim to keep all members up-to-date with events at the Club, such as up-coming competitions, recent results and course information, through a weekly online newsletter. Our objective is to help you plan your golfing activities.
The Club website is now a major communication channel and resource, which is updated continuously with accurate information on Club events, policies and procedures. The Club diary is on the website and is updated on a rolling basis by the Committee. You can download this either to your desktop or PDA so that you can email the organiser of your chosen event with a request for information or a booking. The diary also has an RSS feed that allows you to follow any changes made to competitions.
We also have a Facebook page and Twitter account, @WindleshamGolf, which we use to circulate instant updates such as course closures. This can be accessed via the homepage or followed on Twitter if you have a Twitter account. We would also be delighted to connect with you on Linkedin.
For those who prefer paper communications, we continue to display Club information on the notice boards in the changing rooms.

The Club Committee
Constitution and Rules
The purpose of the Club Committee is to oversee and administer all aspects of Men’s and Ladies’ golfing activities.
- Treasury – to administer income and expenditure and report to the Club Committee.
- Handicaps – to oversee, review and make recommendations to the Handicap Committee.
- Qualifying Competitions – to administer qualifying competitions and ensure there are sufficient qualifying competitions in terms of number, type and timing.
- Knockout Competitions – to administer the Summer and Winter Knockout Competitions and to review and update entry criteria and competition rules.
- Inter-Club Competitive matches – to provide support to the match Captains and others organising participation in external competitions.
- Inter-Club Friendly matches – to develop an appropriate number of friendly matches with other clubs and to keep the timings and number under review.
- Organisational Support – To assist the Club Captain with the organisation and administration of major WGC member golf events.
- Liaison with WGML – to liaise as appropriate with WGML on relevant aspects of Men’s and Ladies golfing activities.
These rules apply to all competitions organised by the Men’s Golf Committee. These competitions may include any combination of Male 7 day, 5 day, Student or Junior members as defined by the specific competition entry criteria.
All competitions will be played in accordance with the ‘Rules of Golf’ as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, and with the Local Rules of Windlesham Golf Club.

Men’s Interclub Matches and Leagues
Procedure for Maintaining the Men’s Division’s Trophies and Honours Boards and Ensuring Appropriate Presentation to Winners.
To ensure that ‘display cabinet’ trophies are engraved with immediate past winners within 2 months of the relevant competition being completed.
To ensure that Honours Boards are updated with the previous year’s winners within 2 months of the completion of the Men’s Summer competitions.
To ensure the Men’s Section of the Website is updated with the previous year’s winners within 2 months of the completion of the Men’s Summer competitions.
To ensure that all winners have the opportunity to be presented with their trophy, shield or medal at an appropriate Club event.
To ensure that appropriate news items are posted on the club’s website regarding competition winners.

Shields and Medals
All winners of the summer and winter knockout competitions; the winner of the order of merit, flag trophy, restricted club competition and the Birdie Book trophy receive a shield which remains in their possession.
The winners of the three categories of the Club Championship receive an engraved medal which remains in their possession.

All men’s competition winners are posted on the Men’s Section of the Website.
In January each year the Men’s Golf Committee will place an order with a shield and trophy supplier for all the competitions mentioned in Shields and Medals above.
At the conclusion of each competition the competition co-ordinator will notify the winners’ names to the Golf Operations Team.
Golf Operations will arrange:
- for trophy engraving, with the cost paid from Men’s Committee funds.
- for updating of the Honours Boards.
- for updating the Website with competition winners.
Wherever possible eg Finals Day, Club Championships, etc. winners will be presented with their trophies, shields and medals as appropriate on the day.
In other circumstances winners will be contacted by the competition co-ordinator to ascertain an opportunity to make the presentations at an appropriate Club event (Captains’ Charity Day, Captain’s Drive-in, etc.).
The competition co-ordinator will provide the Golf Operations Team with appropriate items for inclusion on the Club’s website following the conclusion of competitions and /or the presentation of trophies etc.
